A man was arrested in West Australia yesterday as part of an operation by Victoria Police and Western Australia Police linked to two murder investigations.
The 52-year-old man was arrested in Wembley yesterday morning.
He was interviewed by detectives from the Victoria Police Homicide Squad in relation to the murder of Annette Steward in Geelong West in 1992.
He was also interviewed by detectives from the Western Australia Police Homicide Squad as part of their investigation into the disappearance of 59-year-old Medina woman Dianne Barrett.
The man has subsequently been charged with one count of murder in relation to the West Australian investigation and appeared in court today.
He has not yet been charged in relation to the murder of Annette Steward, however at this stage police are not seeking anyone else and the investigation remains ongoing.
Annette was found dead in her Hope Street, Geelong West property on 18 March, 1992.
In 2015 police offered a $1 million reward for information in relation to the 29-year-old's death.
