Police arrest man after drug investigation

On Monday 5th September 2022 Detectives from Serious & Organised Crime Branch attended an address in Cherry Gardens in relation to an investigation into the suspected trafficking of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), also known as Ecstasy.

A search by police located a manual pill press machine, several punches/dies, binding agents, various items used in the tabletting of Ecstasy, 50 grams of MDMA crystals and over 300 pressed ecstasy tablets.

Today (Tuesday 6th September 2022) a 22- year-old man from Cherry Gardens was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Commercial Quantity of a Controlled Drug.

Officer in Charge of Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Detective Superintendent Billy Thompson said,

"This seizure demonstrates that detectives from Serious & Organised Crime Branch will continue to pursue those responsible for trafficking harmful drugs. Backyard operators are not chemists and activity such as this places people who would choose to use drugs at extreme risk.
