A man wanted for serious offences was arrested at Peterhead last night.
Just after 6.30pm on Tuesday 4 August, patrols spotted a BMW sedan travelling on the North South Motorway at Wingfield. The driver was identified as a man wanted in connection with an incident in the eastern suburbs on Sunday 2 August.
The driver initially pulled over, however, he allegedly refused to open the door to officers before driving off towards the western suburbs.
The BMW was not pursued and patrols, with assistance from PolAir, conducted a search of the area.
Following further investigations, police attended an address at Peterhead where the alleged driver was arrested without incident around 8.30pm. A search of the address allegedly uncovered approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine.
The 28-year-old Parafield Gardens man was charged with failing to stop, driving while disqualified and possessing prescription drugs. He was also charged with aggravated assault and blackmail in relation to an ongoing investigation into the incident on 2 August.
He did not apply for bail and will appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today, Wednesday 5 August.
The BMW was seized for forensic examination.
