Police arrest man after Golden Point shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have arrested a man following a non-fatal shooting in Golden Point last week.

A 22-year-old Brown Hill man was arrested with the assistance of the Special Operations Group about 9.20pm last night at a property in Wendouree.

He is currently under police guard in hospital receiving treatment for an unrelated incident.

The man is expected to be charged with intentionally cause serious injury and will likely face a bedside court hearing today.

The arrest follows an incident on 4 November in Golden Point where a 17-year-old Wendouree boy was shot in the upper body.

He was conveyed to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

During the warrant at the Wendouree property last night, police located a significant quantity of drugs and cash.

A 30-year-old Wendouree man was arrested and is expected to be charged with traffick commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.

He will appear at Ballarat Magistrates' Court today.
