Police arrest man after incident in Lavington NSW

Armed Crime Squad detectives with assistance from the Special Operations Group arrested an Albury man in Essendon last night.

The arrest follows an altercation with NSW police members in Lavington NSW on Friday 18 August during which a firearm was recovered.

It is alleged the man, who was in possession of the firearm, fled NSW police in a vehicle into Victoria.

The vehicle was located in Melbourne on Saturday 19 August and the 34-year-old man was arrested at a property on Mt Alexander Road about 6.30pm.

A second man was also arrested.

The pair are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

No one was injured during the arrest.

It is expected police from Albury will make application to extradite the 34-year-old man to New South Wales.
