Police arrest man after Lorne aggravated burglary

A man has been arrested following an alleged aggravated burglary in Lorne on Friday.

It is alleged the man gained entry to a house on Broadbank Road about 11am and stabbed a 79-year-old Lorne woman in the neck.

Police attended the Broadbank Road house after family members raised the alarm after the woman failed to attend a planned function.

Police located a 21-year-old Grovedale man asleep in the house.

The man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, theft of motor vehicle, thefts, assault with a weapon, and recklessly and intentionally cause injury.

The man was remanded in custody and will appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on 9 August.

The woman was conveyed to hospital with minor injuries.
