Police arrest man after police operation at Katoomba

A man has been arrested following a police operation in the Blue Mountains earlier today.

About 10:00 am this morning (Tuesday 19 January 2021), emergency services were called to a home on Lurline Street, Katoomba, following reports of a concern for welfare.

Police have been told a woman at the property had been threatened by a man known to her before she fled the home.

Officers from the Blue Mountains Police Area Command, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit and the Dog Unit, commenced an operation and began negotiations with a man still inside the property.

The woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being transferred to Katoomba Hospital with minor injuries.

About 1.30pm, following negotiations, a 44-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Katoomba Police Station where he is assisting police.

There were no other reports of injury.
