Police Arrest Man After Pursuit - Pennant Hills

A man has been arrested following a pursuit and crash in Sydney's north west.

Shortly after 3am today (Friday 8 May 2026), officers from The Hills Police Area Command attempted to stop a black BMW X3 on Cecil Avenue, Castle Hill, due to its manner of driving.

When the driver failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued onto Castle Hill Road and then on to Pennant Hills Road where the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, police have located a crash between a black BMW X3 and a green Kia SUV on Pennant Hills Road, Pennant Hills, near the intersection of The Crescent.

The driver of the green SUV was trapped within the vehicle.

The driver of the black BMW X3 ran from the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and extricated the man green SUV.

He was treated at the scene for leg injuries before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Following a search of the area, and with the assistance of the Dog Unit, a man was arrested on Harold Avenue, Pennant Hills.

He was treated by paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to hospital, under police guard, where he remains.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident has commenced.
