Police arrest man after series of aggravated burglaries and carjackings in Melbourne's south

Police arrested a 31-year-old man following a series of alleged aggravated burglaries, carjacking's and theft of a motor vehicle in Melbourne's south last night.

The first aggravated burglary occurred at Moody Street in Caulfield North just after 8pm where the man also attempted to steal a car.

An attempted carjacking occurred on Craigavad Street and the second aggravated burglary occurred at Mile End Road in Carnegie just after 8.30pm where a car was stolen.

The stolen car was then dumped at Stanley Street in Brighton about 8.45pm.

A number of attempted carjacking's occurred in the Brighton area before the man was arrested with the assistance of the Dog Squad in a yard on Carpenter Street in Brighton just after 11pm.

No one was injured.

A Traralgon man is currently in custody and will be remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this morning.
