Police arrest man after stabbing at Smithfield

Police are investigating an incident at Smithfield after a man was stabbed.

About 12.30pm on Friday 10 February, police and paramedics were called to the Munno Para Shopping Centre after reports a man had been stabbed.

A 19-year-old man from Gawler South sustained stab wounds to his torso. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. His injuries are considered life threatening.

An 18-year-old man from Evanston Gardens has been arrested over the incident and is currently being questioned by police.

The alleged weapon has been seized.

It is early in the investigation however the incident is not believed to be random.

Detectives from Northern District CIB are investigating and ask anyone who witnessed the incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
