Police arrest man after stealing car in city, South Australia

A man will face court today after stealing a car in the CBD and crashing it a short time later in Richmond.

It will be alleged about 1.50am, Wednesday 20 March, the victim was travelling east on North Terrace when a man jumped into the back of his Toyota sedan. When the victim stopped the car the suspect threw him out before driving off with it.

The victim received minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

About 20 minutes later a member of the public reported a Toyota had crashed on Davenport Terrace, Richmond and a man had run from the car. Patrols quickly attended the area and located the suspect on Sir Donald Bradman Drive near South Road.

The 28-year-old man from the USA was taken to the Royal Hospital for a check up. He is currently being interviewed by Detectives and will be charged later today.
