Police arrest man after stop sticks deployed in Hastings

Police have arrested a man in Rowville after a vehicle attempted to evade officers across the southern suburbs on Friday morning.

Officers located the silver Nissan Pulsar, believed to be connected to recent attempted armed robbery in the Dandenong North area, on the Westernport Highway at Hastings about 10.25am.

Police attempted to intercept the Nissan but it sped off and was followed by the Air Wing as it drove erratically through Cranbourne and Dandenong.

Stop sticks were successfully deployed at the South Gippsland Highway and Pound Road in Dandenong but the vehicle continued on.

The vehicle eventually stopped at the intersection of Wellington Road and Stud Road in Rowville.

The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but was arrested nearby a short time later.

A 19-year-old Dandenong man is currently assisting investigators with their enquiries.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
