Police arrest man after suspicious house fire at Albury

A man has been arrested as investigations continue into a suspicious house fire in the state's south overnight.

About 6.30pm (Wednesday 12 August 2020), emergency services were called to a home on Kiama Street, in the Albury suburb of Springdale Heights, following reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, which destroyed the home.

No one was home at the time and no injuries have been reported.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire, with initial inquiries indicating the fire was deliberately lit.

Following inquiries, a 48-year-old man was arrested on Griffith Road, Lavington, about 11.30am today (Thursday 13 August 2020), and taken to Albury Police Station.
