A man was arrested after allegedly damaging a police car at Port Noarlunga overnight.
At 11.45pm on Friday 1 May, police were patrolling the Port Noarlunga area when they spotted a man walking along Gawler Street, Port Noarlunga carrying a lifesaving ring, suspected of being stolen from the nearby jetty. They stopped to speak to him, but he threw a rock at the police car, smashing the windscreen, and ran off.
The officers were standing next to the car and were not injured. They gave chase and cordoned off the area.
The suspect was located in River Road, Port Noarlunga and arrested.
The 26-year-old Aldinga Beach man was charged with theft of the buoy, property damage and fail to state name and address. He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 18 June.
