Police arrest man for overnight crimes

Police have arrested a man and are searching for a second following an overnight crime series in the northern suburbs.

About 6.40am on Sunday 8 January, two men broke into a Salisbury Downs home while the occupants were present. They stole mobile phones, wallets and other items before fleeing the scene.

Shortly after, just after 7am, two people armed with a knife gained entry to a Salisbury home and threatened the occupants. The intruders fled the scene in the victim's two Mitsubishi SUV's.

Both stolen cars were later found abandoned at Hillbank and Elizabeth South.

Police received a call from a home owner at Elizabeth South just before 8am, who stated that two men had smashed the window of his car. When police arrived they found a second incident nearby where a car had been broken into and an electric scooter stolen.

Just before 9am this morning, police responded to reports of a man on an electric scooter acting suspiciously around cars parked in Tregenza Avenue at Elizabeth South. Patrols attended and located the man.

Checks revealed that the scooter was the one stolen earlier that morning.

A 25-year-old man from Parafield Gardens was arrested and Northern District Investigators have subsequently linked the man a number of other incidents overnight.

Detectives are searching for a second suspect and investigations are continuing.

The man faces several charges including aggravated serious criminal trespass, aggravated robbery, illegal use of a motor vehicle, illegal interference and being unlawfully on premises. He has been refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
