Police arrest man for shooting in Carnegie

A man has been arrested in relation to the alleged shooting of a man in Carnegie on 18 September.

The man was arrested in Suttontown, South Australia by South Australian detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch and local Mt Gambier units.

The 39-year-old Elsternwick man has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury and prohibited person firearm charges.

Officers were called to the intersection of Neerim Road about 2.15pm after reports a person had been shot.

A short time later, the victim, a 43-year-old Highett man, self-presented to the nearby hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

The man is expected to appear in Mt Gambier Magistrates' Court on 1 October where Victoria Police Armed Crime Squad detectives will apply for his extradition.
