Police arrest man in Benalla deception

Benalla Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man for deception after he allegedly quoted jobs and took payment but did not commence or complete the work.

The 47-year-old man was this morning arrested by detectives after he allegedly quoted concrete jobs around the Benalla, Wangaratta, Shepparton and Wodonga areas between July 2022 and January 2023.

Officers have been told he received over $120,000.00 from at least 15 victims.

The man has been charged with 15 counts of obtain property by deception.

He will appear for a committal mention at Wangaratta Magistrates' Court on 4 May.
