Police arrest man in stolen car in Glen Waverley

Public Order Response Team officers have arrested a man after a food delivery car was stolen from Melbourne's CBD overnight.

Police were called following reports the Toyota Corolla was stolen from Elizabeth Street about 1.45am.

It's believed the driver left the parked car running when he went to quickly grab himself a coffee.

When he returned, he saw a man open his car door, jump in and drive away.

The victim was able to assist police and track the car providing updated information on the car's location.

The Airwing was also called in and located the car as it travelled outbound on the Monash Freeway.

With overhead assistance from the Airwing, police units on the ground moved in as the car speed through a number of streets surrounding Brandon Park Shopping Centre.

Public Order Response Unit officers arrested the man without incident when he drove into the driveway of a home in Capella Court Glen Waverley.

The 25-year-old man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
