Police arrest man over double homicide at Oberon

A man has been arrested as part of investigations into the death of a man and woman at Oberon.

About 7.15am today (Friday 13 August 2021), emergency services were called to a home on On-Avon Avenue, following concerns for the welfare of the occupants.

Officers from Chifley Police District attended and found the bodies of a man and a woman with stab wounds. They are yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths commenced.

Following inquiries, officers from Nepean Police Area Command and Nepean Highway Patrol arrested a 46-year-old man on Jack William Drive, Penrith, about 8.50am.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for what is believed to be minor injuries before being taken to Nepean Hospital where he remains under police guard.

The parties are known to each other.
