Police arrest pair after attempted police car ramming in Ballarat

Ballarat Divisional Response Unit detectives arrested two teenagers this morning following an alleged incident in Ballarat earlier this week.

Police spotted an allegedly stolen Nissan Pulsar travelling along Humffray Street about 11am on Wednesday (10 July).

The vehicle allegedly drove onto the wrong side of the road after police attempted to intercept it before speeding away.

A patrolling officer later spotted the same vehicle on Queen Street, where it allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road again and attempted to ram the police car.

The male senior sergeant was able to take evasive action to avoid a collision and was not injured, with the car fleeing the scene.

Detectives this morning attended an address in Sebastopol and arrested a 17-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl.

The male has been charged with 30 offences, including:

? Aggravated intentional exposure of emergency service worker to risk by driving;

? Attempted armed robbery;

? Assault with a weapon ;

? Possess weapon;

? Aggravated burglary ;

? Theft of and from motor vehicle;

? Evade police;

? and other driving-related matters

The female was charged with a number of offences, including theft of and from motor vehicle, and driving-related matters.

Both are expected to appear at a children's court.
