Police arrest pair after pursuit in northern suburbs, South Australia

Police have arrested a man and a woman following a brief pursuit tonight at Kilburn.

Just before 8.30pm on Tuesday 26 March, patrols spotted a Hyundai sedan on Grand Junction Road and tried to stop it. The driver refused and was pursued for a short distance along Grand Junction Road before patrols terminated.

The car was found a short time later in Tyne Street with the driver and his female passenger walking nearby. The driver ran off but was apprehended by police after a short foot chase.

While arresting him, the woman threw a mobile phone striking one of the officers in the head and then kicked another officer.

The 23-year-old man from Seaton has been charged with drive disqualified, engage in police pursuit, drive contrary to defect, drive with unassigned plates, unregistered, uninsured and hinder police. His passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Birkenhead has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Both have been bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 28 May.
