Police Arrest Teen After Double Fatal Crash In Orbost

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a teenager this morning following a double fatal collision in Orbost earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to reports a car crashed into a tree on the corner of Murphys Lane and Bonang-Orbost Road about 12.20am on Tuesday, 10 June.

Two of the three occupants of the car, an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, died at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

At the time of the crash, it was believed the 18-year-old man was driving the car.

Detectives have carried out extensive investigations following the incident.

Four months on, they will allege the 16-year-old survivor was behind the wheel.

The 16-year-old East Gippsland boy was arrested at Bairnsdale Police Station this morning.

He was taken into custody where he will be interviewed.
