Police arrest teens after pursuit - Mosman

Two teens have been arrested after a pursuit through Sydney overnight.

About 2am (Monday 18 May 2020), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command saw a Toyota Corolla travelling south on Spit Bridge at Mosman. The car was recognised as being stolen from a Mosman home between Monday 11 May and Tuesday 12 May 2020.

As officers approached, the vehicle accelerated away, before travelling at speeds varying between 100km/h to 120km/h in a sign posted 60km/h

A pursuit was initiated by North Shore Police Area which continued west on Military Road through Mosman, Neutral Bay and Crows Nest. As the vehicle came to the intersection of the Falcon Street on-ramp to the Warringah Freeway, it collided with concrete guttering causing the vehicle to become airborne. The impact deflated the tyres and damaged the engine, rendering the car inoperable.

The driver, a 15-year-old boy from Carlton and passenger, a 13-year-old boy from Brighton Le Sands, were arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station.

The driver was charged with police pursuit – not stop – driver recklessly, drive conveyance taken without consent, unlicensed driver, not keep left of dividing line and breach of bail.

The passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent and breach of bail.

The boys were refused bail to appear at a children's court today.
