Police arrest two after erratic driving through Ballarat

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit and Divisional Response Unit detectives arrested two men after an allegedly stolen vehicle was seen driving erratically in the Ballarat area this afternoon.

Police were initially called after an allegedly stolen BMW X5 was sighted in Sebastopol on Thursday 7 October about 12.30pm.

Officers, with the assistance of the Air Wing, were able to track the car to a Norman Street shopping centre carpark before the male driver and passenger dumped the car and fled on foot.

Police located and arrested the two men in an adjoining retirement village a short time later.

The teens from Ballarat, aged 18 and 16-years, are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The are expected to be interviewed and charged with offences including aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle and traffic related offences.
