Police arrest two after police car rammed

Police have arrested a man and a woman after a police car was rammed in Rochester overnight.

Officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle near McColl Road about 11.40pm.

Police attended and observed a blue Nissan Navara and a white Nissan Navara stopped next to each other and people trying to load a motorcycle onto the white Navara.

The blue Navara, which was towing a trailer, sped towards police and crashed into the front of their vehicle.

The ute attempted to reverse but backed into a drain and became stuck on the trailer.

Police had to smash a window and deploy OC foam as the driver continued to attempt to drive the ute away.

The driver and his female passenger then exited the ute with the driver deciding to try his luck and leg it from the scene.

He was quickly chased down by police and a 25-year-old man from Echuca and a 24-year-old woman from Echuca are currently assisting police with their enquires.

The other ute managed to leave the scene before police could speak to the driver.
