Police arrest two over carjacking

Police have arrested two men following an alleged carjacking and pursuit.

Investigators allege a maroon VT Holden Commodore was stolen in Ferntree Gully about 5pm this afternoon.

The car was pursued by police for a short time before being terminated for safety reasons.

The Commodore was sighted in numerous locations and Stop Stix were deployed successfully in Canterbury Road, Box Hill.

Police then followed the car and an unmarked police car was rammed in Liddiard Street, Hawthorn.

The car was then pursued down Glenferrie Road before the pursuit was again terminated.

Investigators believe the car was then driven to the intersection of Glenferrie and Wattletree Roads where it was dumped by its occupants.

The occupants exited the vehicle and tried to carjack another car but were unsuccessful.

They then then forcefully removed the occupants a silver Toyota Corolla before driving off.

The Corolla was then involved in a crash at the intersection of Hawthorn Road and Princes Highway where the Corolla flipped.

Police, including Dog Squad members, were quickly on scene and the occupants arrested.

Currently two men in their 20s are assisting police with their enquires.
