Police bicycle struck in Richmond

Melbourne Crime Investigation unit are investigating after a police bicycle was struck by a car in Richmond yesterday afternoon.

Bicycle patrol members were attempting to intercept a black Toyota Rav 4 on Olympic Boulevard about 12.35pm.

As one of the police officers was speaking to the driver, the car drove off.

The vehicle drove along the footpath before making a U-turn, forcing one of the police officers to jump out of the way.

The Leading Senior Constable's bicycle was struck by the car but she was uninjured.

A number of pedestrians were also forced to jump out of the way as the car took off west on Olympic Boulevard.

Police conducted patrols of the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
