Ballarat Highway Patrol officers have been left shocked after catching a motorist travelling at excess speed Warrenheip last night.
Officers were on patrol when they spotted a Range Rover Evoke driving at an alleged speed of 176km/hr in a 110km/hr zone on the Western Freeway about 7.30pm.
Police quickly intercepted the Range Rover, which was impounded at a cost of $1405.
The driver, a 38-year-old man from Nerrina, also had his licence immediately suspended.
He is expected to be charged on summons with excess speed and speed dangerous.
