Police responded to a report of a stolen car in Elgin Street, Berwick, about 4.30pm this afternoon., Victoria Police say
When police arrived, the driver of the stolen car then rammed a police car.
A police member drew his firearm and fired a number of shots at the offending vehicle.
The vehicle then drove off and police engaged in a pursuit. The pursuit lasted a short time and police are investigating.
The offending vehicle was later found dumped in Kelletts Road, Rowville.
The driver is yet to be located.
Police believe the male driver may have been injured during the incident and urge anyone who sees someone who requires medical attention in the Rowville area to contact Triple Zero (000).
Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
