Police charge driver after drugs, cash and firearms located at M1 crash scene at Ourimbah

A man will appear in court today charged after drugs, cash and firearms were strewn across the M1 Motorway following a crash on the Central Coast.

Just before midday yesterday (Saturday 5 December 2020), emergency services were called to the M1 at Ourimbah, after reports of a multi-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes.

The contents of the boxes fell onto the road, including vacuum sealed bags of approximately 47kg of cannabis and more than $39,000 cash.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District searched the vehicle and located seven firearms, ammunition and white powder believed to be cocaine.

The items were seized for forensic examination.

The Toyota driver, a 37-year-old man, was arrested and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, before being taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

Upon release, he was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with deal with proceeds of crime, money/property (more than $50,000), supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), supply prohibited drug and not keep firearm safely.

The Queensland man was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Bail Court today (Sunday 6 December 2020).
