Police charge driver after fatal two-vehicle crash at Queanbeyan

A man has been charged after a fatal two-vehicle crash in Queanbeyan last year.

About 3.20pm on Monday 23 December 2019, emergency services were called to McCrae Street, near Lanyon Drive, following reports a Toyota Yaris sedan and motorcycle had collided.

The Toyota driver, a 57-year-old man, was not injured and taken to Queanbeyan Hospital for mandatory testing.

The motorcycle rider, a 74-year-old man, was taken to Queanbeyan Hospital with face, chest and leg injuries. He died in hospital on Wednesday 1 January 2020.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the surrounding the crash.

Following inquiries, the 57-year-old man attended Queanbeyan Police Station on Sunday 31 May 2020.

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for negligent driving (occasioning death).

The man, from Kambah, ACT, is due to appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday 24 August 2020.
