Police charge driver after leaving scene of crash - Burwood

A man will face court today charged after allegedly failing to stop following a serious crash in Sydney's inner west yesterday.

About 3.15pm (Thursday 10 October 2019), emergency services were called to Shaftesbury Road in Burwood following reports that a blue Mazda CX5 station wagon has collided with another vehicle.

The driver of the station wagon, a 25-year-old man from Ryde, allegedly failed to render assistance or exchange particulars with the other driver and left the scene on foot.

Officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command patrolled the area and attempted to speak with the 25-year-old man before he fled on foot again.

The man was arrested a short time later and was taken to Burwood police station where he was charged with numerous offences including take and drive conveyance, breach of bail, resist Police and goods in custody.

The Ryde man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 11 October 2019).
