Police charge driver for Horsham pursuit

Police have charged a man after a pursuit in Horsham last night.

Officers first observed a silver BMW sedan without registration plates on Ararat Road, Stawell about 8pm.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop when police attempted to intercept it.

Stop sticks were deployed when the vehicle again failed to stop while driving erratically on the Western Highway near Drung.

The driver allegedly ran from the scene but was arrested nearby a short time later.

Two passengers were arrested without incident.

During a search of the occupants and vehicle, police located what's alleged to be a large amount of cash and suspected methylamphetamine and cannabis.

The driver, a 28-year-old man of no fixed address, has been charged with reckless conduct endanger serious injury, drive at a speed dangerous, possess cannabis, possess methyl amphetamine, drive suspended, use unregistered vehicle, deal proceeds of crime and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

He will appear via web-ex at Ararat Magistrates' Court shortly.

A 29-year-old Melton man, a passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with possess drug of dependence.

A 32-year-old Reservoir woman has since been released.
