Police charge four men with affray after police assaulted at Bankstown

Four men will face court later this month after they were charged with affray and assault police following a brawl in Bankstown last night.

About 7pm Saturday (5 October 2019), police were called to a venue on Chapel Road, Bankstown, after reports a group of men was fighting.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command responded and attempted to disperse the men, who allegedly became aggressive toward the officers.

One of the men allegedly approached the officers and he was tasered and arrested.

A senior constable was treated in hospital for a dislocated shoulder and another was treated for capsicum spray contamination.

The four men were charged with assault, assault police and affray.

The four men were granted conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 30 October 2019.
