Police Charge Four Over Property Offences At Maitland

Two men and two women will face court today charged following alleged property offences near Maitland early this morning.

About 2.30am (Monday 26 May 2025), police were called to Millhouse Close, Farley, following reports four people had allegedly entered a construction site and stolen equipment.

Police attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District responded and stopped a white dual-cab utility driving on Wollombi Road, Farley, a short time later.

Police spoke with the driver – a 21-year-old woman – who was allegedly driving whilst suspended, before they commenced a search of the vehicle.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized a knife, chainsaw, angle grinder and charger, car battery, and rolls of insulation.

The driver and three passengers – two men aged 20 and 38, and a 39-year-old woman – were arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station.

During a subsequent search of the 38-year-old man, police allegedly located a resealable bag containing 0.43g of methamphetamine.

All four occupants were charged with larceny, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

In addition:

  • the driver was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence,
  • the 20-year-old passenger was charged with custody of knife in public place, and
  • the 38-year-old passenger was charged with possess prohibited drug.

They were each refused bail to appear before Maitland Local Court today (Monday 26 May 2025).
