Homicide Squad detectives have today charged a man in relation to the death of Samantha Mizzi in St Kilda over 30 years ago.
A 67-year-old man was arrested in Ararat earlier today.
He has been charged with murder and two counts of rape and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
Today's charges follow the fatal assault of Samantha Mizzi in St Kilda on 29 March, 1994.
The body of the 24-year-old Castlemaine woman was located by a passerby in bushes at the rear of a property on Brighton Road about 11pm that night.
She was conveyed to hospital but passed away the following morning.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
