Police charge man after act of indecency in front of young girl - Mosman

A man will appear in court today after a lewd act was allegedly performed in front of a child at Mosman last week.

About 4.30pm on Wednesday (24 April 2019), a young girl was playing in the front yard of a home on Kirkoswald Avenue, when a man – who was riding past on a pushbike – stopped to speak with her.

The man engaged the young girl in conversation before allegedly exposing himself and performing an act of indecency.

Shortly after the incident, the girl's mother came outside and spoke briefly with the man before he rode away on his bike.

The girl disclosed the incident to her mother and officers from North Shore Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation, assisted by officers from the State Crime Commands Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad.

Following inquiries and a public appeal, investigators arrested a 70-year-old man riding a bike on Bond Street, Cremorne, about 11.15am yesterday (Sunday 28 April 2019).

He was taken to Chatswood Police Station and charged with two counts of intentionally carry out sexual act with child under 10 years.

The man has been refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court today (Monday 29 April 2019).
