Police charge man after alcohol theft spree across Melbourne

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man in relation to a large series of alcohol thefts, spanning six months, across Melbourne.

It's alleged the man stole approximately $30,000 worth of high-end whiskey and scotch from bottle shops between December 2021 and July 2022.

The 60 separate thefts took place in 19 different suburbs including:

Eltham

Malvern East

Parkdale

Endeavour Hills

Rowville

Brighton

Chelsea Heights

Preston

Docklands

Bundoora

Cheltenham

Karingal

Camberwell

Ascot Vale

Chadstone

Richmond

Fawkner

Berwick

South Yarra

A 52-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in Bentleigh yesterday.

He has been charged with 60 counts of theft and held over to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
