Police charge man after armed robberies - Central Coast

A man has been charged following two separate armed robberies on the Central Coast this month.

About 8.15pm on Wednesday 4 March 2020, police will allege a 27-year-old man entered an ice cream shop on The Entrance Road, The Entrance, and threatened a 17-year-old male employee with a handgun.

The man took cash then fled the scene.

About 7.15pm on Monday (23 March 2020), a 46-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were working at a takeaway store on The Entrance Road, Long Jetty, when an unknown man entered the store allegedly armed with a handgun.

The man allegedly threatened the pair and demanded cash, before the 46-year-old grabbed a mop nearby and began to chase the offender.

The man ran from the store empty handed.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District commenced investigations into both incidents.

Following extensive inquiries, about 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 March 2020), police attended a unit on The Entrance Road, The Entrance, and arrested a 27-year-old man.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of assault with intent to rob armed with a dangerous weapon.

He was refused bail to face Wyong Local Court today (Wednesday 25 March 2020), where he was again refused bail to face the same court on Tuesday 6 June 2020.
