Police charge man after armed robbery at Port Macquarie

A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery of a service station on the state's Mid North Coast yesterday.

Police will allege about 3.20am (Monday 19 September 2022), a man – armed with a metal object – entered a service station on Lord Street, Port Macquarie, and threatened an employee demanding money.

The man fled the scene on foot a short time later with cash.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District were notified and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined.

Following investigations and a public appeal for information, a 35-year-old man attended Kempsey Police Station about 11.45am yesterday (Tuesday 20 September 2022), where he was arrested.

The man was charged with one count of armed robbery with offensive weapon and refused bail, to appear at Kempsey Local Court today (Wednesday 21 September 2022).
