A man will face court today following an alleged assault in Sydney's inner-west.
About 3pm yesterday (Tuesday 3 March 2026), emergency services were called to Holden Street, near Liverpool Road, Ashfield, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Officers attached Burwood Police Area Command were told two men were seen fighting. Police responded and located a male on the footpath unconscious.
A 54-year-old man was treated by Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.
A short time later, police arrested a 38-year-old man nearby.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today, Wednesday 4 March 2026
