Police charge man after assault at Wagga Wagga

A man will face court today charged following an assault in Tolland yesterday.

Officers from Riverina Police District were called to a unit on Bruce Street, Tolland about 10.30am (Thursday 23 April 2020), following reports of a domestic dispute.

Police will allege a 26-year-old man forced entry to a unit and assaulted two women who were known to him, before throwing a 40-year-old man onto a concrete path as he tried to intervene.

The older man suffered head injuries as a result and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, before being flown to Canberra Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The two women sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced by Riverina Police District.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with common assault (x4), aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (x3) and reckless grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 24 April 2020).
