A man will face court today charged after allegedly assaulting three police officers in Sydney's east.
About 8.45pm on Friday (18 September 2020), officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were patrolling the Randwick area when they saw a man shaking the fence of a school on Avoca Street.
Officers stopped and spoke to the 54-year-old man before he was arrested for breaching his bail conditions.
During the arrest, it's alleged the man punched two constables' in the face and body.
The officers retreated before the man ran at them and a taser was deployed.
A female sergeant attended to assist, and the man allegedly repeatedly punched her in the face.
She suffered facial bruising and swelling, while the other officers sustained minor injuries.
Further police arrived and the man was detained and taken to Maroubra Police Station before being transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard for treatment.
Just before 6pm yesterday (Saturday 19 September 2020), he was charged with assault officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm, assault officer in execution of duty (x2), resist officer in execution of duty, destroy or damage property, and breach of bail.
The Randwick man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court via bedside hearing today (Sunday 20 September 2020).
