Police charge man after assaulting people at train station - Central Station

A man will face court today after allegedly assaulting a police officer, train station employees and a bicycle rider in Sydney City last night.

About 11.15pm (Thursday 27 February 2020) at Central Railway Station, the man, aged 28, allegedly became aggressive when he was awoken by a guard on a terminated train and asked to leave.

The man moved onto an adjacent train, before allegedly threatening passengers and assaulting a number of off-duty train employees, punching two in the head and pushing another.

He then left the train and allegedly kicked over a man's bicycle on the platform before punching and wrestling with him.

Officers from Police Transport Command Central attended the platform and attempted to arrest the man, who allegedly resisted and punched a male police officer. A taser was deployed and the man was arrested.

The man was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he was charged with affray, assault police and resist arrest.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 28 February 2020).
