Police charge man after attempting to procure children - Marrickville

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to procure children for sex and assaulting police in Sydney's Inner-West.

About 3pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 April 2019), the 46-year-old man allegedly approached several children on Marrickville Road, Marrickville, and nearby Jarvie Park, where he spoke to them and tried to procure them for sexual activity.

The man also allegedly made threats.

Police from Inner West Police Area Command attended and placed the man under arrest.

During the arrest, he allegedly assaulted police by spitting on them and kicking them.

The man was taken to Burwood Police Station where he was charged with several offences including procure child under 14 for unlawful sexual activity (x3), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, offensive behaviour, assault police (x2), and intimidate police.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 18 April 2019).
