Police charge man after Avondale Heights pursuit

A man has been charged following a pursuit in Avondale Heights yesterday morning.

The police Air Wing assisted the Maribyrnong Vehicle Crime Unit and local police after an allegedly stolen vehicle was seen in Maidstone about 11am.

Police followed the Hyundai i30 and stop sticks were deployed in Keilor East.

The car came to a stop in Avondale Heights, where the man fled on foot and was arrested nearby.

A 34-year-old Maidstone man has been charged with handling stolen goods, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail, failing to stop on police direction, driving when disqualified, theft, theft of a motor vehicle and burglary.

He was presented directly to Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 11 May.
