Arson and Explosives Squad detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault and fire in Bacchus Marsh earlier this week.
The man was arrested at a residential address in Bacchus Marsh this afternoon.
This follows calls to emergency services regarding a fire in Lidgett Street on Thursday, 5 February about 9pm.
Upon arrival a 57-year-old man was located with significant burns and airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
A 29-year-old Bacchus Marsh man has since been charged with attempted murder.
He has been held overnight to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow (8 February).
It is believed the parties are known to one another.
