Police charge man after Belmont stabbing and fire

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have a charged a man following an alleged burglary, stabbing and fire in Belmont yesterday.

It's alleged the man forced entry into a property on Donald Street, before stabbing a woman on Thursday 20 July about 6.20am.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No one else inside the premises at the time was injured.

It's alleged that the man started a fire in the house before fleeing the scene on a bike.

The parties are believed to be known to each other.

The 23-year-old Whittington man has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, recklessly cause injury, arson and stalking.

He was remanded to appear at the Geelong Magistrate's Court on 24 October.
