Police Charge Man After Bolte Bridge Incident

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after he allegedly Bolte Bridge tower earlier today.

Officers were called to reports of a suspicious loiter inside the tower early this morning.

Police attended the scene and spotted a man abseiling from the tower.

The man allegedly spray-painted an external wall and refused to come down for several hours.

A 22-year-old East Geelong man was arrested at the scene without further incident.

He was interviewed and has been charged with a total of 13 offences including, contravening conditions of bail, committing indictable offence whilst on bail, burglary, criminal damage, conduct endangering life and conduct endangering serious injury along with a number of graffiti related offences.

Police will make an application to an out of sessions court this evening to have the man remanded in custody.
