Police charge man after bottleshop break-in at Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged over an alleged break and enter in Wagga Wagga earlier this week.

Just before midnight on Tuesday (6 July 2021), a man approached the front doors of a hotel bottleshop on Baylis Street, and allegedly attempted to smash the glass with a brick, before gaining entry by kicking in the glass.

Once inside, it will be alleged the man stole cigarettes and alcohol before fleeing.

Officers attached to Wagga Wagga Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Following inquiries, about 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 July 2021), police attended a hotel on Fitzmaurice Street, Wagga Wagga, and located a 35-year-old man in the gaming room.

Police will allege in court that he was in possession of a set of nunchucks.

He was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with break and enter, and possess prohibited weapon.

The man was refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 8 July 2021).
